The mailbox was found outside of the historic White House. During the events of Zork 1, it contained a leaflet which read:
"WELCOME TO ZORK!
ZORK is a game of adventure, danger and low cunning. In it you will explore some of the most amazing territory ever seen by mortals.No computer should be without one!"
The mailbox was destroyed in 1067 GUE by order of the Grand Inquisitor in preparation for destruction of the White House. Sometime prior to this, Griff arrived via time tunnel and mailed the Glorf scroll to Hades using the mailbox.
